The Canadian Delegation of the Savoy Orders, headed by Cav. Giuseppe Ruffolo, held their First Canadian Charity Gala at the prestigious Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, Canada. The charity of choice was Vets Canada – The War Veterans Emergency Transition Services. This non-profit organization provides aid and comfort to Canadian Vets that are in crisis, are at risk of becoming homeless or are homeless.
The First Savoy Gala was in partnership with the Ferrari Festival.
A sequence of events surrounding the Gala Reale di Savoia started on Thursday afternoon with a welcome reception at the beautiful home of the Castrucci family. The Charity Gala Event started at the exclusive Rideau Club allowing both Gala and Ferrari guests to mingle and share their stories.
The Gala hosted 124 guests with the presence of H.R.H. Prince Emmanuel Philibert of Savoy, Prince of Piedmont and Prince of Venice, Comm. David Yurdiga – Member of Parliament, Comm. Carl Morelli – US Delegate, Comm. Daniel J. McClory – West Coast Representative and the Italian Ambassador’s wife, Maria Enrica Taffuri. The distinguished guests were piped into the Ballroom by the 742 National Capital Air Cadets Squadron. Heartwarming speeches were delivered by key note speaker, LTC. (R) Uff. Robert Ruffolo and Jim and Debbie Lowther with Vets Canada.
The silent auction was a nice addition to the evening which contributed to support the charity project. Guests danced the night away to music played by a live band.
The following day, a light luncheon was hosted at the Italian Ambassador’s residence – Claudio Taffuri, where a large number of Ferrari’s were displayed on the grounds.
A Ferrari parade took place later that day at another location followed by a casual sit down dinner in the evening. A wonderful time was held by all.
Recognition deserves mentioning to the main organizing team coordinated by the delegate and vice-delegate that consisted of Dame Alda Ruffolo, Cav.Giuseppe Castrucci, and Caroline Castrucci, Francesca Blanck, Cav. Alberto di Vito, Comm. David and Kathy Yurdiga.
