ASSISI – The Delegation for Umbria region of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy organised a convivial moment on Saturday 21 April with HRH Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy taking part. A meeting with several members of the area’s economic, social and political life present alongside the dames and knights.
The purpose of the visit was charity and, as HRH reminded those present in an incisive manner, it is charity and works to support the needy that have to be the primary purpose and commitment for all dames and knights belonging to the Orders, involving and sensitising donors outside the orders as much as they can.
The Prince then reminded those present “that the funds must be found locally, involving and sensitising donors, entrepreneurs, professionals able to support charity projects”.
This meeting framed by splendid Assisi was a practical example of those indications for which the Prince is a spokesperson. Funds collected following the rich buffet lunch offered to guests amounted to about €10,000. This sum will be devolved to Terni Hospital and will be used to purchase a very important medical device for the fight against cancer: a latest generation digital mammograph.
A day dedicated to charity and conviviality that reminded all of us how much Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy and the Dynastic Orders are linked to Umbria. In fact, it was only last year that €50,000 were donated in this region by the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy to support the reconstruction project of the Madonna delle Grazie Church in Norcia, badly damaged by the 2016 earthquake. A link that the Delegation for Umbria region keeps alive and reciprocates committing itself to charity works and continuously renewing this commitment thanks to the links it has with many people. Not necessarily belonging to the Orders, but who believe in the importance of this fundamental commitment.
