On 29 November the Delegation for Lombardy held its traditional charity gala lunch for the exchange of Christmas wishes at the Fondazione Istituto Ciechi (a charitable foundation for the blind) in Milan, to which a significant financial contribution was delivered during the evening along with a painting depicting H.R.H. the Prince of Piedmont and Venice which will be placed inside the facility.
Part of the proceeds from the gala dinner were used to contribute to a fundraiser promoted by the Grand Chancellery to help the city of Venice after the recent floods (“Emergenza Venezia”).
On 1 December the Delegation for Liguria promoted the Christmas Holy Mass of obligation in the Church of Santa Maria del Prato in Genoa, which was also attended by local authorities; at the end of the Service, a charity lunch was held with Ligurian specialties and the proceeds from it were used for a donation to the Immaculatine Sisters and the disabled children of the “Bic Basket in carrozzina Genova”, a basketball team for young disabled people.
On 7 December, the Swiss Delegation organized a lunch with a charity lottery at a renowned restaurant in Geneva, whose proceeds were donated to the charitable Hospital Works of the Dynastic Orders.
On the same day, the Delegation for Puglia offered 120 hot meals to needy citizens at the Mensa dei Popoli (the peoples’ soup kitchen) di San Cataldo in Taranto as part of the project “La Mensa dei Poveri” (the soup kitchen).
From 13 to 15 December, the Delegation for the United States of America will hold its annual “Savoy Ball” in New York City, the proceeds from which are used to fund the Delegation’s charitable work. The same delegation has organized an event the 12th of December for Young Professionals in partnership with the Young Friends group of Save Venice, Inc., for the purpose of interesting potential candidates under the age of 40 to become involved in the charitable work of the Savoy Orders in the USA.
The Delegation for France will meet for the traditional exchange of Christmas wishes on 17 December at the Paris Yacht Club. TT.RR.HH. Princess Maria Pia of Savoy and Princess Helen of Yugoslavia will be attending the evening, as well as Prince Stéphane Belosselsky Belozersky, President of the French charitable Hospital Works of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, with a conference and a gala dinner in favor of the above-mentioned charitable work.
Many other events dedicated to charity work have been organized before Christmas, for example in Naples, where the Delegation for Campania committed to supporting the Banco di Solidarietà (solidarity bank) in collaboration with the First Aid charitable work of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George as well as in various Vicariates in Lombardy, Sicily, Piedmont and worldwide.
Once again, the Dynastic Orders confirm their social commitment by dealing with emergencies and natural disasters, always united in bringing help and hope wherever they are needed.
