Genoa – A 12-year-old Genoese boy who had been stung by a stingray in Costa Rica was brought back to Italy during the night of the last november 18th, after an ordeal that lasted for a month. The boy was flown back to Bologna in an Italian Air Force Falcon 900 aircraft and was then transported by ambulance to the Ospedale Maggiore, Bologna’s largest hospital, where he was treated urgently at the emergency care unit of the spinal surgery ward.
The event has succeeded in different weeks the interest and participation of the media in Liguria. Several Ligurian politicians intervened to unlock the diplomatic stand-off, as well as Genoa’s archbishop, Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, the Ligurian Delegation and the Lucca Vicariate of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy, which gave a great support to the success of the humanitarian initiative.
