Bologna, 9 January 2020. The Marche Delegation delivered a trained Labrador to an autistic child.
Nathan is a child who suffers from a severe form of autism. He cannot speak, has difficulty eating, cannot read and write and has great difficulty in relating to others and to the world around him.
He lives near Bologna with his mother, who got in touch with the “My Labrador” Centre in the province of Macerata, in the Marche region, because she was determined to provide her son with the help of a four-legged friend.
Pet-therapy is a valid therapeutic support also in this pathology. Unfortunately, training a Labrador is costly and Nathan’s family would not have been able to pay for it. For this reason, Andrea Zenobi, the head of the Center, contacted the Marche Delegate of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy, asking for the availability of the Savoy Knightly Forces to support the initiative.
Deeply moved by the boy’s difficult situation, the Delegate, Cav. Uff. Dr. Walter Pellegrino immediately got in touch with the family and with some Knights and Dames of the Orders who promptly visited Nathan and his loved ones, and he realized that very slowly the child began to overcome the emotional block that is typical of autism, he came close to the Labrador and touched it with a playful attitude to which the dog responded calmly. The initiative was then entirely supported by the Delegation.
Thanks to the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy, Nathan will be able to face the challenges of his existence with more serenity and the trained Labrador will help the child on his path to growth and inclusion in everyday life and in his relationships with others.
