Dear Ladies, Knights and Supporters
after the terrible earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey, the whole world is taking action to offer humanitarian aid to those countries, where there are now tens of thousands of dead and injured.
The Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy, at the instigation of HRH Prince Vittorio Emanuele and HRH Prince Emanuele Filiberto, immediately got in touch with ELISE CARE, an international humanitarian organisation that provides medical and psychological assistance to populations living in conflict zones, particularly in war-torn countries such as Iraq, Armenia and Artsakh, Syria, Lebanon, Ukraine and Ethiopia.
In Midane, a Christian neighbourhood in Aleppo, Syria, there are many casualties and hundreds of injured. Sadly, many people still lie under the rubble.
We are appalled at the tragedy of these people who, in recent years, have already experienced the horror of war and that of religious persecution, and now find themselves facing this cataclysm.
They want to rescue survivors immediately, providing them with access to drinking water and comfort items, provide shelter for those who have lost their homes and deliver first aid treatment.
ELISE CARE has estimated an initial emergency relief effort will cost 50,000 euros. We can immediately support this and provide our help to cover the needs of 5,600 people, through the network of churches currently accommodating survivors.
A lot of humanitarian aid reaches Turkey and also northern Syria, in the Kurdish non-governmental area. Our Christian sisters and brothers are therefore once again the forgotten collateral victims of this disaster.
They need the support of all of us: even a small contribution can be valuable. Upon joining the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy, all Dames and Knights made a commitment to the Dynasty and to our Forces: to honour their oath in the exercise of charity. Let the white Mauritian cross be a source of relief and comfort to these populations.
The project will be documented in detail and we will share all information and updates with you.
We thank those of you, Ladies, Knights and supporters, who will offer your help once again.
