On 3 July 2022 in the City of Lecce, in the eighteenth-century Hall of the Episcopal Palace, the Knights and Dames of the Apulian Delegation of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy met again after the forced interruption due to the Covid pandemic.
H.E. Mgr. Michele Seccia, Metropolitan Archbishop of Lecce and Grand Officer of the Royal House of Savoy, warmly welcomed them, expressing his pleasure and joy at hosting the Apulian Knights and Dames.
The Archbishop thanked everyone not only for the values they represent, but also and above all for their charitable commitment to the Diocese and paid special tribute to the House of Savoy and, in particular, to HRH Prince Victor Emmanuel, Head of the Royal House and Grand Master of the Orders.
Mgr. Seccia then handed out diplomas to new members and to those who got a promotion, together with the Delegate for Apulia, Nob. Avv. Angelo Gadaleta.
At the end of the splendid ceremony of the awarding of the Diplomas and Decorations, the Knights and Dames went to the magnificent Lecce Cathedral to take part in a Holy Mass for the 450th anniversary of the founding of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus. The Order has performed noble deeds in favour of the needy throughout the centuries with its charitable, philanthropic, cultural and social commitment, down to our days.
The ceremony was presided over by the Archbishop of Lecce, assisted by his personal Master of Ceremonies, Mgr. Giancarlo Polito, Mauritian Commander and new President of the Metropolitan Chapter of Canons.
This was followed by the reading of the prayer of the Knights and Dames of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy and by greetings and unanimous thanks for the magnificent welcome they received.
