On Friday 21 October, a charity evening was organised in Turin to support the restoration of the Mauritian Basilica at the exclusive Società del Whist and Accademia Filarmonica.
The event celebrated the 450th anniversary of the founding of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, which falls in this period, and hosted around 150 Dames and Knights. The Piedmontese Delegate Cav. Gr. Cr. Dott. Carlo Buffa dei Conti di Perrero and the Deputy for Turin Comm. Nob. Avv. Emanuele Olmi, together with President Angelo Salvi del Pero Count of Luzzano, welcomed HRH Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy to the rooms of the guest quarters of the historic Palazzo Solaro del Borgo in Piazza San Carlo.

The Prince of Piedmont and Venice greeted members and friends with a short speech, stressing the importance of the contribution of all members to the charitable work of the Orders, which last year amounted to 700,000 euros.
The welcome and opening speech of the evening by the Delegate went over the most salient historical moments of the Dynastic Orders, highlighting the importance and function of the Orders over the centuries and in modern society.
The following day, HRH Prince Emanuele Filiberto visited the exhibition “Margherita di Savoia, Regina d’Italia” at Palazzo Madama in Turin.
Through several film screenings and historic images, the exhibition brought the Prince back into the world and years of Queen Margherita, who enjoyed great popularity, was an inspiring muse for artists and a philanthropist, a model of action and style who contributed to giving shape to Italy.
Accompanied by Prof. Giovanni Carlo Federico Villa, director of Palazzo Madama and curator of the exhibition, the Prince was surrounded by the crowd and affection also of occasional visitors.
