The Conference “The Third Sovereign of United Italy. Victor Emmanuel III” held at the Small Refectory Hall of the United “CIVIC AND A. URSINO RECUPERO” Library, Catania, analysed the historical figure of the Sovereign from various standpoints, outlining a detailed picture of him.
150 years after the birth of Victor Emmanuel III, this meeting organised with the patronage of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy marks the beginning of celebrations for this anniversary.
The speakers made their presentations before an interested and highly qualified audience, including several representatives of local authorities, both municipal and regional, and of various other public institutions.
After the speech by the Official Knight Eng. Salvatore Caruso, Lawyer Francesco Atanasio, Grand Officer of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus and delegate of the ODDCS for Sicily, discussed a very interesting topic, precisely the “Constitutional profiles of the kingdom of Victor Emmanuel III”. The presentation by Dr. Francesco Giordano followed, entitled “The visits of Victor Emmanuel III to Catania”. It was fascinating with the screening of previously unpublished Luce movies of the 1920s and 1930s that offered the audience an experience of the atmosphere that prevailed during Victor Emmanuel III’s rule, when he visited the city.
