On June 2nd, during the solemnity of the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, a representation of the Delegation attended the solemn pontifical Mass officiated by His Excellency Monsignor Salvatore Rumeo, Bishop of Noto, in the Noto Cathedral, which was declared a “national monument” by His Majesty King Vittorio Emanuele III.

The delegation included the Vicar for Syracuse, Office Attorney Salvatore Giummarra, Commendator Giuseppe Troja, who is in charge of ceremonies for the Diocese of Noto, and knights and dames from all over Sicily.

After attending the Holy Mass, which was accompanied by the Cathedral Choir “Lorenzo Perosi,” the honorees participated in the procession that started from the ancient temple and traveled through the main streets of the baroque city, including Corso Vittorio Emanuele, ending at the church of Ecce Homo at the Pantheon. This church houses the Fallen of Noto in the Great War, where the Bishop gave the blessing with the Blessed Sacrament.

The honorees followed the Bearers of St. Conrad and the ancient religious Confraternities of Noto, preceding the chanting clergy and the canopy with the Blessed Sacrament.

His Excellency Monsignor Salvatore Rumeo, Bishop of Noto, has been admitted to the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus with the rank of Commander.

As customary, on the initiative of the Vicariate of Syracuse, a fundraising collection was conducted among the attendees to support the social and charitable works of the Confraternity of the Cappuccinelli of Noto.
