COVID-19 DID NOT PREVENT SOME SAVOIARD KNIGHTS FROM MEETING AT HAUTECOMBE TO PRAY

On 14 March, despite the difficult health situation across Europe, a group representing the Delegation for the region of Savoy of the Dynastic Orders, led by Delegate Comm. Prof. Bernard Demotz and by the Vice-Delegate, Uff. Thierry D’Asniers de Veigy, met at the Royal Abbey of Hautecombe to pray. A Eucharistic celebration had initially been planned there in suffrage of TT.MM. King Umberto II and Queen Maria José, but it was suspended due to Covid-19 emergency.

The Savoyard Dames and Knights of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy prayed together with the Chemin Neuf community in Hautecombe and said the Knight’s Prayer in memory of TT.MM.

The ceremony, which is attended by almost one thousand people every year in March, is one of the services that are dearest to the Royal Family, to the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy and to all Italian monarchists and their associations.

It is an opportunity to remember the passing away of H.M. King Umberto II, who died in exile at 3.45 p.m. on 18 March 1983 at the Cantonal Hospital in Geneva and dedicated his last thoughts to his beloved Italy.
