On 11 May, the Church of Sant’Agata al Collegio in Caltanissetta, built at the behest of the Princes of Moncada, welcomed the Dames and Knights of the Delegation for a Holy Mass to invoke divine blessings on the new General Grand Master, H.R.H. Emanuele Filiberto.

The sacred building was also the setting for the ceremony of the donation to the Delegation of Sicily of a fragment ex ossibus of Saint Maurice, the Celestial Patron of the Dynastic Orders, donated by Cav. Franco Di Guardo and kept in a special reliquary venerated by the faithful. In addition, Cav. Giovanni Rizzotti presented a precious ex-voto from the Piedmontese school of the 18th century. In the presence of the Delegate for Sicily, the Deputies of Palermo, Catania and Messina, and the Trustees of the Provinces of Agrigento, Caltanissetta and Enna, the Rev. Don Andrea Di Paola, Ecclesiastical Master of Ceremonies of the Delegation, celebrated the solemn Holy Mass, accompanied by the choir of the Cathedral of Santa Maria La Nova in Caltanissetta.

At the end of the Mass, the participants, together with representatives of the Military Corps and the Voluntary Nurses Corps of the Italian Red Cross, the Associazione Granatieri di Sardegna, the Associazione Nazionale Carabinieri e Bersaglieri, preceded by the Guard of Honour of the Caltanissetta Delegation, went in procession to the bronze monument dedicated to Umberto I to lay a laurel wreath sent by the National Presidency of INGORTP on the occasion of the 180th anniversary of the birth of the sovereign.

After the reading of a message from the President of INGORTP, Dr. Ugo D’Atri, Diplomas were handed out to the Members of the General Chapter 2023.

The ceremony ended with a donation to support the pastoral work of the church of Sant’Agata and the Association L’ALBERO DELLA VITA.
