Florence 18,19 November 2023

The Tuscan delegation, led by Cav. Gr. Cr. Prof. Giovanni Duvina, warmly welcomed H.R.H. Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, Prince of Piedmont and Venice, who was welcomed to Florence, the second capital of the Kingdom of Italy, for a busy weekend with many engagements and activities.

On Saturday, the day began with an institutional visit to the President of the regional government of Tuscany, Dr. Eugenio Giani, who welcomed the August Prince to a cordial meeting, during which he underscored the strong ties that bind the House of Savoy to Florence and Tuscany.

The day continued with a visit to the Uffizi Gallery and the San Lorenzo Market, the beating heart of the city. The Prince received an extraordinary welcome from the people and gave numerous interviews to television and radio channels and newspapers. The visit took place one hundred and fifty years after his illustrious ancestor, H.M. King Vittorio Emanuele II, Father of the Nation, visited the same place.

The gala evening, organised by the Consulta dei Senatori del Regno, concluded the day with a chamber music concert, a dinner and a ball.

Sunday began with Holy Mass in the splendid Baroque setting of the Church of Ss. Michele e Gaetano, presided over by the Prior of the Delegation, Rev. Dr. Cav. OSSML Don Federico Pozza. It was celebrated in honour of the Royal House of Savoy, with the participation of the Dames, Knights of the Delegation and members from other nearby Delegations, all dressed in church coats.

The proceeds of the gala will be donated to “Autismo Firenze Onlus” and “Istituto Cristo Rei.”
