FAITH AND TRADITION IN THE LITURGICAL MEMORY OF BLESSED MARGARET OF SAVOY. H.E. THE AUXILIARY BISHOP OF MESSINA CELEBRATED THE HOLY MASS ON THE DIES NATALIS OF THE BLESSED.

23 November, Palermo – The liturgical memory of blessed Margaret of Savoy (1390 – 1464) was celebrated solemnly on her dies natalis, 23 November, at the church of Santa Maria della Pietà in Palermo by H.E. Rev. Mgr. Cesare di Pietro, titular Bishop of Nicopoli all’Jantra and auxiliary Bishop of Messina. 

The Vicars of the Dynastic Orders of Palermo, Messina, Agrigento, Caltanissetta, Enna and Siracusa, Knights and dames from all over Sicily, the provincial delegates of the National Institute of the Guard of Honour to the Royal Tombs of the Pantheon (INGORTP) for Palermo, Messina, Agrigento, Trapani, representatives of the General Command of the Army in Sicily, of the Harbour Master’s Office, of the Voluntary Nurses Corps of the Italian Red Cross, of the Cultural Conferences “Maria Cristina di Savoia”, of the Confraternity “Ai sacchi” of Santa Rosalia took part in the service and H.E. the Grand Prior of the Dynastic Orders Mgr. Paolo De Nicolò sent a greeting message.

The Palermo Vicariate, which took care of every detail of the ceremony, also donated booklets for the Holy Mass, while Comm. Ing. Agesilao Fiocco gave the participants an artistic votive image of the Blessed as a gift. Finally, a donation was made in favour of the social work carried out by the parish.
