On Sunday, 28 August 2022, in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Lamezia Terme, the Knights and Dames of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy from the Calabria Delegation gathered to take part in a solemn Eucharistic celebration to commemorate the Kings of Italy and all the deceased members of the Royal House of Savoy.
The Rev. Don Luigi Cannizzo, parish priest of the church of Santa Maria della Candelora in Reggio Calabria, presided over the rite in the splendid and historic setting of the cathedral.
During the Holy Mass, the Knight’s Prayer was read and, at the end of the celebration, to the tune of the ancient Sardinian Anthem, the Grand Magistral Delegate of Calabria, Avv. Domenico Lupis, handed over the diplomas that had been conferred in Geneva at the last Chapter General and the relative insignia to the new Knights who had been unable to attend due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In an atmosphere of fraternal jubilation, a delegation from the National Institute of the Guard of Honour to the Royal Tombs of the Pantheon was also present.
The ceremony was followed by a charity luncheon, the proceeds of which were donated to needy families in the Diocese of Lamezia Terme.
