On the evening of 15 October at the San Gaudenzio Castle in Cervesina a concert was held, as per tradition, followed by a gala dinner organised by the Pavia Vicariate on the Feast of Saint Fortunato, Saint Maurice’s Companion Martyr, to support the Matany lazaretto hospital in Uganda, where leprosy is still endemic among the population.
The evening was attended by more than one hundred members and sympathisers of the Dynastic Orders, together with representatives of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George and high representatives of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy.
During his speech, the Deputy for Pavia Gr. Uff. Andrea Rivoira emphasised the importance of the aid that has been donated to the Matany health facility over time, recalling the ideal bond established following the example of the Lazarite charisma, and informing fellow members that on Christmas 2019 the hospital had wished to dedicate a commemorative plaque to the Dynastic Orders in recognition of the Vicariate’s ten-year commitment.
The following day, the members and their guests joined in prayer for the celebration of Saint Fortunato, the fellow martyr of Saint Maurice, at the Insigne Collegiata di San Giovanni Battista in Casei Gerola. The celebration was presided over by the Rev. Comm. Dr. Don Maurizio Ceriani, the former delegate for Lombardy, and ended with a convivial reception to support the Vicariate’s charitable works.
