GENERAL CHAPTER OF THE ODDCS – TURIN, 26–27 SEPTEMBER – EUCHARISTIC CELEBRATION, CHURCH OF SAN FILIPPO NERI

On Sunday, 27 September, the Church of San Filippo Neri, one of the splendid landmarks of the Savoy capital, welcomed the solemn Chapter Eucharistic Celebration, attended by approximately 900 people, including Dames and Knights in Church Mantles, family members, and guests.

To everyone’s surprise, and greeted with warm applause, H.R.H. Princess Marina also arrived for the occasion, making this moment of prayer and fellowship even more special.

The celebration was also attended by H.R.H. Princess Elena of Yugoslavia, H.R.H. Prince Leka of Albania, H.I.H. Princess Victoria Romanova, the Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, and Sir William Worsley, 11th Baronet of Hovingham, together with numerous other distinguished guests.

Holy Mass was presided over by Monsignor Francesco Camaldo, who expressed his gratitude for the invitation to celebrate on an occasion of particular significance to him: the 50th anniversary of his priestly ordination.

In his homily, Monsignor Camaldo invited the Knights and Dames to reflect on the authentic meaning of their membership in the Dynastic Orders, drawing inspiration from the Gospel passage of the two sons whom their father called to work in the vineyard. It was an invitation to transform words into actions and to live out their mission concretely through faith, service, and charity. Referring to the motto FERT, he emphasised that the insignia are not merely an ornament, but express a responsibility that must be renewed each day, especially towards those most in need.

The celebration thus took on a profound meaning of faith and fraternity, culminating in the invitation not merely to say “yes”, but to translate that “yes” into a concrete commitment in the Lord’s “vineyard”.

The solemn Eucharistic Celebration therefore brought the General Chapter of Turin to a close, in the spirit of faith, tradition, and commitment to the service of others.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Choir of San Cipriano for its moving and solemn musical accompaniment, which helped make the celebration a moment of particular beauty and participation, enriching the prayers of all those present through music and song.
