GENEVA, CHRONICLE OF THE GENERAL CHAPTER OF OCTOBER 30-31, 2021

Finally, after the cancellation imposed by the pandemic emergency of 2020, on the days of 30 and 31 October 2021, in Geneva, the General Chapter of Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy was held, summoned on the shores of Lake Lecano by HRH Prince Vittorio Emanuele, Grand Master of Knightly Militia of Savoy.

The recipients of the awards were called by the Knight Grand Cordon Ossml Paolo Thaon di Revel Vandini, secretary of the Gran Magistral Council. Also taking part in the ceremony the Knight Grand Cordon of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus Dr. Carlo Buffa dei Conti di Perrero and the Knight Grand Cordon of the Military Order Dr. Don Giancarlo Melzi d’Eril dei Duchi di Lodi e dei Conti di Magenta, members of the Gran Magistral Council.

At the end of the Ceremony for the distribution of the diplomas, H.R.H. Prince Emanuele Filiberto presided over the General Assembly of the A.I.C.O.D.S (International Association of Dame and Knights of Dynastic Orders of Royal House of Savoy) focusing on the beneficial works carried out during the pandemic, both in Italy as well as abroad.

On Saturday 30th October, the awards and their loved ones again gathered for the usual gala lunch at the Salons of the same hotel.

The proceeds from the Gala was entirely intended for the financing of an important project of infant surgery in Africa promoted by Mercy Ships, a Swiss Association operating in more than 50 countries in the world, whose representatives participated in the evening by illustrating the work of Charity, with which the dynastic orders of the Royal House of Savoy, through AICODS, have cooperated for years.

Sunday 31 October, at the Church of Saint-Joseph in Geneva, a solemn Eucharistic celebration was held, in which the Grand Master, H.R.H. Prince Vittorio Emanuele, took part together with H.R.H. the Consort Princess Marina and H.R.H. Prince Emanuele Filiberto.

The end of the sacred function was followed by refreshments for charity at a restaurant in the city center.

Once again, the dynastic orders of the Royal House of Savoy have borne witness to their active presence in the world with over 400,000 Euros for charitable projects, despite the limits imposed by the Covid-19 that have made it particularly difficult to organize ceremonies and initiatives in presence. The goals that the orders have set for next year are even more ambitious: new Delegations shall arise and communication strategies will be improved.

As HRH Prince Emanuele Filiberto reminded us during the gala lunch, echoing the words of HRM Queen Elena, “it is better and more beautiful to give than to receive”.
