HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCE EMANUELE FILIBERTO OF SAVOY VISITED THE GENOA POLYCLINIC, BUILT WITH A DONATION FROM THE DYNASTIC ORDERS OF THE ROYAL HOUSE OF SAVOY

Precisely six months after the nameplate was installed, His Royal Highness Prince Emanuele Filiberto visited the Maria Cristina of Savoy Polyclinic in Genoa, which was donated by the Dynastic Orders to the population that was experiencing the tragic consequences of the Morandi Bridge’s collapse on 14 August 2018.

His Highness the Prince, along with the Knight of the Grand Cross Paolo Thaon di Revel Vandini, Member of the Council and Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy, was welcomed by the Deputy Chairman of the Rivarolo Red Cross branch and new Vicar of Liguria for the Dynastic Orders, Officer Dr. Valerio Ruggiero, at the new offices of the Ligurian Delegation, situated in Palazzo Durazzo – Zoagli, in via San Lorenzo. At Palazzo Durazzo His Royal Highness met the Deputy Mayor of Genoa, Dr. Stefano Balleari, authorities, entrepreneurs and professionals who thanked him for his contribution to the city during its recent dramatic situation that was marked by several deaths.

His Royal Highness then visited the Rivarolo Red Cross headquarters, where he saw the completed Polyclinic. More than 400 patients have been treated, only on weekends, in barely three months since the facility was opened, receiving treatment for low emergency cases, the so-called “white codes”.

His Royal Highness was then welcomed at the Genoa Maritime Station by more than 300 Lions, who invited him as guest of honour to the annual gala dinner “The Feast of Friendship”, an occasion to award the prestigious Melvin Jones Lions Club acknowledgements, and to thank him for the donation for the Polyclinic. His Highness, the Prince, said, “The T-shirt I received from the evacuees and the Red Cross had the words ‘Genoa in the Heart’, and Genoa is actually in my heart”.

The Vicar for Genoa and Deputy Chairman of the Red Cross, Officer Dr. Valerio Ruggiero, greeted the Prince and thanked him, mentioning that, “The bond between Genoa, His Royal Highness, the Red Cross and the Dynastic Orders is indissoluble because now Prince Emanuele Filiberto too is an Angel who has been present with fatherly concern since that accursed 14th August. The Genoese, in whatever corner of the world they might be, are grateful to him and feel affection for him”.
