Batches of surgical masks were donated to a charity institution in Lecce
On 16 July, the feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, another generous gesture was made by the Apulia and Basilicata Delegations of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy, thanks to the contribution of the Dames and Knights in Lecce, who donated two large batches of surgical masks to the Suore Discepole del Sacro Cuore in Lecce, as a further contribution to the Covid-19 emergency. The masks were then given to the Scuola dell’Infanzia del Sacro Cuore and to the Casa Generalizia, the headquarters of the Order’s Superior General.
Both institutions warmly welcomed the benefactors, praising the gesture of solidarity and assuring them that the masks will be distributed in their local offices and in their Mission in Madagascar. “We particularly appreciate the gesture of the Knights of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus,” said the Sisters, “because it is motivated by true solidarity, which is the key to achieving the common good, underpinned as it is by true values, and we thank them sincerely for their interest in our activities and in the well-being of our guests”.
These are concrete gestures at an extremely delicate time, when the health emergency has brought out new needs, but also many synergies in our region.
