On the evening of Saturday 3 July a summer gala lunch promoted by the Lombard Delegation of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy was held in the evocative setting of Palazzo Cusani.
The charity event concluded a period of fundraising by the Delegation in favour of the VIDAS Children’s Relief Home.
Thanks to the donors and with the proceeds of the event, Ferruccio de Bortoli, President of VIDAS, received a contribution of € 20,000 which will be used to buy medicines for the children in care at the facility.
The gala lunch was attended by various civil and military authorities and the Delegate Deputy for Lombardy of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George Cav. Gr. Cr. O.SS.M.L. Count Giuseppe Rizzani.
Also present was a member of the Grand Magistral Council, Cav. Gr. Cr. O.SS.M.L. Nob. Don Giancarlo Melzi d’Eril, the secretary of the Council Cav. Gr. Cr. O.SS.M.L. Paolo Thaon di Revel Vandini, and the member of the Giunta Gr. Uff. O.SS.M.L. Dr. Federico Pizzi, as well as the Prior of the Delegation Rev. Comm. O.SS.M.L. Mgr. Luigi Mistò, the Provincial Deputies and the Councillors of the Delegation.
On the morning of Sunday 4 July, with the collaboration of the Milan Delegation of the National Institute for the Guard of Honour at the Royal Tombs of the Pantheon, a laurel wreath was laid at the Shrine of Milanese Fallen for the Fatherland in the august presence of H.R.H. Archduke Martino of Habsburg-Este.
After the military ceremony, in the underground shrine that holds the remains of the Fallen, a Holy Mass was celebrated by the Prior of the Delegation, in suffrage of those who fought and lost their lives for their country, with a special remembrance for the Fallen in Africa, including HRH Prince Amedeo di Savoia-Aosta, Duke of Aosta and Viceroy of Ethiopia, Hero of the Amba Alagi.
The ceremony was attended by the Historic Uniforms Unit of the Associazione Carabinieri and the President of the Associazione Amici del Sacrario Cav. Gr. Cr. O.SS.M.L. Stefano Di Martino.
