OUR CONDOLENCES UPON THE DEATH OF H.M. KING CONSTANTINE II OF GREECE

We bow our browned flags for H.M. King Constantine II of Greece, Knight of the Supreme Order of the Santissima Annunziata and Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, who died yesterday in Athens.

He was the sovereign of the Hellenes between 1964 and 1973 and then spent a long time in exile, away from his fatherland. He later returned to Greece, where he spent the last years of his life.

He was married to Anne Marie of Denmark: the Royal couple had 5 children, the eldest of whom, Paolo, has been the pretender to the Throne of Greece since the death of his august Parent.

The Sovereign was also a prominent sportsman, winning the gold medal in sailing in the 1960 Olympics.
