PRINCE EMANUELE FILIBERTO VISITED GENOA TO PERSONALLY GIVE THE DONATION OF THE DYNASTIC ORDERS TO THE PINK CROSS UNIT BASED IN RIVAROLO. THE LARGE SUM DONATED WILL BE USED TO EQUIP A POLYCLINIC IN THE PREMISES OF THE RED CROSS IN ORDER TO MAKE IT EASIER TO PROVIDE HEALTHCARE SERVICES AFTER THE MORANDI BRIDGE COLLAPSED.

GENOA – The ceremony to give the donation of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy was held in Genoa on 19 September. The funds will be used to create a polyclinic in the premises of the Pink Cross unit based in Rivarolo in order to provide healthcare for people who have deeply suffered the effects of the Morandi bridge’s collapse.

Prince Emanuele Filiberto arrived in Genoa in the morning, welcomed by several authorities, He immediately visited the most affected areas of Genoa, even the red zone of the Morandi bridge, where he personally saw the extent of the dramatic situation.

Then the Prince visited the site of displaced persons in Certosa, where they were seated at table for lunch. He was warmly welcomed by them and was surprised to notice their positive approach. “I was deeply moved by the strength of these people, whose eyes were filled with tears”, Emanuele Filiberto said, and he stressed that it was the most meaningful moment of the visit. He then added, This was evidence that the people of Genoa might be somewhat rough, but they unfailingly show their great strength and amazing drive to move on”.

Then, accompanied by the Vice President of the Pink Cross and Officer of the Civil Order of Savoy, Dr Valerio Ruggiero, he went to the Rivarolo Pink Cross Unit where the Dynastic Orders’ donation will be used to create a new Polyclinic.

He was deeply moved when he said, “On 14 August my father and I thought of how we could effectively and rapidly help Genoa. Our Valerio immediately came to mind, and with him, we reached the conclusion that the polyclinic could be a prompt, effective and especially useful answer”.

The polyclinic will be named after Blessed Maria Cristina of Savoy, who married in Genoa and lived there for some time. It would seem a sign of fate that the nurse who suggested that a terminally ill patient should pray to Maria Cristina was a native of Rivarolo Ligure. The patient was miraculously healed a few days later.

The ceremony witnessed the participation of a large number of representatives of public authorities, who unanimously thanked the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy for collecting 45,000 euro for this project in just a few weeks, through the efforts of many Delegations and the generosity of many Dames and Knights. It is an important gift for a city that is determined to get back on its feet as soon as possible.

The Rivalorese Pink Cross would like to thank the knights and ladies of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy who, with their donations, made the realization of this project possible. –
