31 January 2020, Milan. The “Savoia Cavalleria” car racing team, which was born on the initiative of H.R.H. Prince Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia, is beginning the 2020 season by taking part in one of the most famous car races in the world, the Monte Carlo Rally, and will also offer a very rare Fiat 8V for the opening of the event at the Automobile Club d’Italia in Milan for the opening gala.
The Innocenti Mini Cooper S of member Pietro Tenconi proudly carries the emblem of the racing team and the Mauritian Cross next to the Tricolour that identifies the participant’s nationality. The start took place on Friday 31 January in Milan, then the crews moved to Chambery and started a four-day race across the French Alps down to the Principality of Monaco, which will end on 5 February in Monte Carlo. The race is currently underway and the two teams of the racing team (Tenconi with an Innocenti Mini Cooper S and Alessio De Angelis, who won the 2019 edition), are assisted by the Automobile Club of Milan chaired by friend and member Avv. Geronimo la Russa, son of Cav. Gr. Cr. Sen. Ignazio La Russa and with the friendly collaboration of the partner and brother Cav. Gr. Cr. Riccardo Garosci who also offered his residence as a logistics base.
Participation in the event will contribute to this year’s fundraiser for the restoration of the Itala “Palombella”, the personal car of H.M. Queen Margherita, donated by H.M. King Vittorio Emanuele III to the Turin Automobile Museum and currently on display, which needs a complex mechanical restoration.
