The Emilia-Romagna Delegation, under the new Regional Delegate, Gr. Uff. Gen. C.A. Antonio De Vita, resumed its activities with a solemn Eucharistic celebration in Bologna on the occasion of the opening of the Jubilee Year marking the 450th anniversary of the foundation of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus.

It was the first ceremony held under the leadership of the new Delegate, who took up his duties on 1 January 2022, and was attended by all the confirmed Provincial Deputies (Bologna-Ferrara, Modena-Reggio Emilia and San Marino) and those recently appointed (Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena-Rimini, Piacenza), as well as numerous Knights and Dames from all over Emilia.

The Holy Mass was celebrated in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Bologna, the oldest church dedicated to the Virgin Mary in the Diocese of Bologna, and the Delegation’s banner was displayed for the first time.

During the ceremony, sixteen newly admitted members of the Delegation were presented with diplomas that were awarded in Geneva in the years 2020-21 and that have not yet been handed out due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

During his address at the end of the celebration, the Delegate expressed his thanks to the Rev. Don Rino Magnani, parish priest of the Basilica, as well as to Mgr. Oreste Leonardi, new Prior for the Emilia-Romagna Delegation of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy,.

Also present at the celebration was the Bologna representative of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George, Count Giacomo Cavina, who was present with several other members. The regional heads of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, who were simultaneously involved in major events in other locations outside Bologna, expressed their appreciation for the initiative.

Finally, the Delegate expressed his thanks to the Inspector of the National Institute for the Guard of Honour to the Royal Tombs of the Pantheon Serena Savorani, to the Bologna Delegate of the same association Dame Elisabetta Fava, to the Provincial Inspector of the Italian Red Cross Volunteer Nurse Corps in Bologna Sister Ester Vignoli and, lastly, to Gr.
