The Delegation celebrated the liturgical memory of Saint Maurice Martyr, the Patron Saint of the Royal House of Savoy, on 25 September 2021 with the following ceremonies.
The Deputy for Messina, Comm. Don Andrea Di Paola, in the presence of the Delegate for Messina, Gr. Uff. Avv. Francesco Atanasio, and the Vicars for Catania, Comm. Avv. Giovanni Vanadia, and Siracusa, Comm. Avv. Giorgio Nicastro del Lago, officiated at the Holy Mass at the church of San Camillo dei Mercedari ai Crociferi in Catania, kindly granted by the Real Compagnia della Mercede, which is the custodian of the church on behalf of the archiepiscopal curia. The sacred rite, which was made more solemn by the musical performances of the ensemble conducted by Daniele Medulla, was attended by representatives of the Grand Priory Delegation of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, led by the Vice Delegate, Cavaliere di grazia e devozione in obbedienza, Baron Raffaele Zappalà Asmundo, and the Catania Volunteer Nurse Corps of the Italian Red Cross with Provincial Inspector Sister Sebastiana Puglisi. The delegations of the National Institute of the Guard of Honour to the Royal Tombs of the Pantheon and the Federations of the Istituto del Nastro Azzurro from the respective provinces were also welcome guests.
The Vicar celebrated the Holy Mass at the Shrine of San Giuseppe in Enna with the participation of the respective INGORTP Delegations.
Mgr Gaetano Tulipano, Canon of the Palatine Chapel, Uff. OSSML, presided over the eucharistic concelebration together with Rev. Don Giuseppe Di Giovanni, Parish Priest of Maria SS.ma della Pietà and Don Giuseppe Iozzia, at the Church of Sant’Antonio Abate. The sacred rite was attended by representatives of the Italian Red Cross Volunteer Nurse Corps, the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George led by the Vice Delegate, Cav. Gr. Cr. di Grazia Dr. Antonio Di Janni, the Teutonic Order with the bailiff Dr. Antonino Sala, the Real Compagnia Beata Maria Cristina di Savoia and numerous Corps Associations.
During the Holy Masses, funds were collected for the commissioner of the Holy Land in Sicily of the Franciscan Custody.
