The Valle d’Aosta Delegation heeded the exhortations H.R.H. Prince Vittorio Emanuele’s made on 17 March, on the occasion of the 159th anniversary of the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy, when he made references to the current global health emergency and to the need to “contribute to support this great collective effort“.
Inspired by the centuries-old tradition of hospital service of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy, a fundraiser was organised among the Dames and Knights of the Valle d’Aosta to support the intensive care unit of the Umberto Parini hospital in Aosta, formerly known as Mauriziano Hospital. The proceeds will be used to buy equipment and implement initiatives to improve the functions of a hospital ward which has been under a great deal of stress during this epidemic.
In this regard, reflecting again on the words of our Grand Master, we are all working so that this situation of difficulty and pain “may be the hope for a new Risorgimento, for a resurrection of the spirit of the Fatherland in the highest and noblest sense of the term.
