The Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy unite in prayer for the ascent to heaven of the Dame of Gran Cross of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, Mrs Assunta Stramandinoli Almirante, widow of Giorgio Almirante, founder and historical leader of the Italian Social Movement. She was 100 years old, turned on July 14th. She was familiarly known as Donna Assunta and considered by many to be the historical memory of the Italian right.
She was born in Catanzaro but she had become Roman by adoption. After her first marriage to the Marquis Federico dè Medici, she married Almirante in 1969. For decades, even after her husband’s death in 1988, she was a point of reference for the Italian right, dispenser of advice and acute observations.
She entered the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy in 2014, having embraced its ideals and values and we join all her family members in this sad circumstance.
