THE FEAST OF SAINT CATHERINE, PATRON SAINT OF ITALY AND OF EUROPE, WAS CELEBRATED IN GENOA

On Saturday, 29 April 2023, at the Church of Santa Croce and San Camillo de Lellis in Genoa, the Knights and Dames of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy of the Ligurian Delegation attended the Holy Mass on the feast of Saint Catherine, the Patron Saint of Italy and Europe.

Presiding over the ceremony was the Prior of the Ligurian Delegation, His Excellency the Most Rev. Mgr. Alberto Maria Careggio, Bishop Emeritus of Ventimiglia-Sanremo.

At the end of the religious ceremony, followed by the playing of the Sardinian Hymn, the Vice Delegate of Liguria, Cav. Uff. Dr. Matteo Giachino presented the Silver Crosses of the Order of Merit of Savoy to the Deputy for the cities of Imperia and Albenga, Cav. Uff. G. Criscuolo and Cav. C. Militenda.

Also present, at the invitation of the Vice Delegate, were the Deputy of Lucca, the Inspector for Liguria of the National Institute for the Guard of Honour at the Royal Tombs of the Pantheon, and the Representative of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George for the provinces of Alessandria and Asti.

A charity luncheon was subsequently held and offerings were collected to be donated for the Delegation’s charitable activities.

In the afternoon, the Vice Delegate and the Deputy for the city of Genoa, Cav. Flavio Lucentini, attended the annual award ceremony of the Genoa Catholic Artists Association, in the presence of the members and their president, Cav. Uff. Orazio Messina, who publicly thanked the Delegation of Liguria for the donation received during the Christmas period.
