THE GALA LUNCHEON OF THE LIGURIAN DELEGATION OF THE DYNASTIC ORDERS OF THE HOUSE OF SAVOY TOOK PLACE IN THE WONDERFUL SETTING OF GENOA’S LIGHTHOUSE.

GENOA – On 26 October the gala luncheon of the Ligurian Delegation of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy was held in the extraordinary setting of the Lanterna, the lighthouse towering above the port of Genoa. The event was organised to raise funds for the Association “Amici della Lanterna”, which deals with the upkeep of the tallest lighthouse in the whole Mediterranean area (the second tallest in Europe) and makes sure that it can always be visited.

Before the cocktail, a guided tour was organized at the Museo della Lanterna and, thanks to a special authorisation granted by the Italian Navy, the guests had the extraordinary opportunity to climb to the top of the lighthouse, which is usually not accessible to the public.

Then, in the historic rooms of the Museo della Lanterna a gala dinner was held featuring traditional Ligurian cuisine dishes. During the banquet, the Vicar of Genoa and the Province of the Dynastic Order, Cav. Dr. Valerio Ruggiero took the floor and gave a heartfelt speech to thank those present, first of all the spokesman of the Royal House and Secretary of the Committee, Paolo Thaon di Revel Vandini, Knight of the Grand Cross, Dr. Comm. Federico Pizzi, Member of the Board and External Collaborator of the Grand Chancellery, Comm. Alberto Di Maria, Secretary of the Heraldic Commission and External Collaborator of the Grand Chancellery, Uff. Dr. Alessandro Santini, Vicar of Lucca and Dr. Enrico Ottonello Lomellini di Tabarca, Ambassador of Genoa in the World.

Paolo Thaon di Revel Vandini K.G.R. brought the greetings of H.R.H. Prince Vittorio Emanuele to the many ladies and gentlemen who took part in the event, with special thanks to the Genoa Vicar Genoa for the promoting the initiative, particularly since it was held in a place that is so special and so dear to the House of Savoy.

Then with the traditional Cavalry toast the Ligurian Delegation of the Dynastic Orders greeted and thanked the Labò Foundation, the Association “Amici della Lanterna” and the Lanterna of Genoa, expressing their best wishes for its first 890 years of history.
