SQUINZANO – On the anniversary of the death of the Queen of the two Sicilies, Maria Cristina of Savoy, declared Saint in 2014, the Puglia Delegation of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy took part in the permanent enthronement ceremony of an effigy of the “Holy Queen” in the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie of Squinzano (LE).
The celebration was preceded by days of prayer dedicated to Blessed Maria Cristina of Savoy, increasingly more known and venerated by the faithful.
Representatives of the Sacred Military Constantine Order of San Giorgio took part in the ceremony. The occasion was a significant meeting moment between the two important structures operating in Puglia.
At the end of the religious service, the Delegate for Puglia of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy and the territorial head of the Sacred Military Constantine Order carried the painting in a procession down the church nave to then continue with the enthroning rite.
This was followed by an interesting conference on the Blessed Maria Cristina di Savoia held by a lecturer from Bari University. He talked about her life and religious journey, highlighting the great virtues and love for her neighbour making her stand out.
