On the occasion of the 50th birthday of HRH Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, Prince of Piedmont and Prince of Venice, a dinner was organised at a well-known restaurant in the centre of Catania, which welcomed not only the members of the Dynastic Orders but also fans and supporters of the august Prince. During the event, two special dishes were presented for the first time to the public and later they were also tasted: the “Prince Emanuele Filiberto” pizza, conceived and made by the Locanda Cerami’s pizza maker Gianluca Messina, with all-Sicilian ingredients (selected ancient grain flour, Bronte pistachio cream, spicy provola ragusana cheese, Sicilian burrata cheese, Pachino cherry tomatoes confit with cocoa bean grains on top) and the “Savoy Royal” cake (with white meringue, gianduia cream, Piedmont hazelnut grains, red blackberries and a very thin gold leaf), conceived and created by Chef Andrea Finocchiaro, founder of Ristoworld Italy, who gave guests a parchment with a very accurate description of his dish. Both recipes, with the ingredients and the procedure to make them, will be featured in the forthcoming publication by Cav. Franco Di Guardo, organiser of the event together with Cav. Alessandro Tabuso, with a preface by HRH. The cutting of the cake and the congratulatory toast were accompanied by the cheerful tunes of “happy birthday to you” and “wonderful world” played by trumpeter Angelo Cantone of Catania’s Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory.  HRH Emanuele Filiberto, who was informed of the event, sent a personal message. Images of the evening were posted on all social media with the hastag #happy50efsavoia created especially for the event.
