On the occasion of the feast of Saint Maurice, on 22 September, the Valle D’Aosta Delegation of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy organised a solemn liturgical celebration at the Collegiate Church of San Pietro e Orso in Aosta.

The Sacred Service, which was open to the public, as are all services celebrated by the Savoy Knightly Forces on a monthly basis in the Valle D’Aosta, was presided over by the Prior, Rev. Uff. Don Aldo Armellin and it was attended by about one hundred people.

Several members of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus and of the Order of Merit of Savoy were present.

The celebration was accompanied by music sung by the Nus choir.

During the liturgy, church vestments were given to the three new members of the Orders from the Valle D’Aosta: Salvatore D’Alessandro, Knight OMS, Antonello Piffari and Andrea Leonardi, Knights OSSML.

The service was attended by representatives of the National Institute for the Guard of Honour to the Royal Tombs of the Pantheon.

After the Holy Mass, a charity luncheon was held at the Lido restaurant in Sarre. It was attended by around fifty people.

The purpose of the luncheon was to support “La Petite ferme du bonheur” in Doues, in the province of Aosta. La petite ferme is a non-profit farm that provides employment to young people with mental disability and not only pays them a regular salary, but also gives the opportunity to discover the world of agriculture and livestock breeding to them as well as to school children in our region who are often invited to spend whole days or weeks with them.

The money collected was handed over to Mr. Bruno Alessandro, the farm’s owner, who manages the activities described above together with his mother and sister.
