“WINDOWS ON ART” IN COPERTINO: THE MUS-E PROJECT SUPPORTED BY THE DYNASTIC ORDERS OF THE HOUSE OF SAVOY TO HELP CHILDREN DEVELOP CREATIVITY AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

For the fourth consecutive year, the educational project Mus-e Italia, present in 7 cities and supported by the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy through AICODS, took place in Copertino on 17 May, in the splendid setting of the Castello Angioino, a heritage site under the protection of the Ministry of Culture. It offers an art programme that leads children to self-discovery and understanding of others through various art forms, together with their classmates and teachers.

This year’s theme was “Finestre sull’arte”, which was explored in each class through different art forms. Windows have always symbolised transition: from the inner Self to the outer world, from the intimacy and security of home and family to the curiosity of the outside world. In art, windows have always served as a privileged vantage point for exploring emotions, especially those crucial to children’s development: hope, happiness, empathy, resilience.

The choice of a common theme aims to create a unique project that unites virtually all the children involved, further promoting collaboration and multidisciplinarity. The Mus-e space was part of the 15th edition of “Il Veliero Parlante”, a series of educational events for children and schools aimed at transmitting indispensable values that have always characterised civilised life and have rightly permeated our social fabric: Truth, Friendship, Freedom, Honesty, Respect, Commitment, etc. The students of the “Giovanni Falcone” Comprehensive School in Copertino, under the wise guidance of their Headmistress, Prof. Ornella Castellano, and their art, music and drawing teachers, are an example of this. Year after year, these children immerse themselves and discover the joys of relationships, creativity and imagination, all within their curriculum activities.
